With the publication of the National Water Plan of Türkiye (2026–2035) in the Official Gazette dated 14 March 2026, a national strategic framework has been established for the sustainable management of Türkiye’s water resources over the next decade.

With the publication of the National Water Plan of Türkiye (2026–2035) in the Official Gazette dated 14 March 2026, a national strategic framework has been established for the sustainable management of Türkiye’s water resources over the next decade.


The Plan aims to strengthen water security, enhance adaptation to the impacts of climate change on water resources, and ensure that water is managed in a balanced manner to meet the needs of agriculture, industry, energy, and ecosystems.


Within the scope of the Plan, which consists of:

  • 8 main objectives,
  • 31 strategies, and
  • 141 actions,

key priorities include improving water efficiency, protecting water resources, managing drought and flood risks, and strengthening water infrastructure.


Particularly from an industrial perspective:

  • Improving water efficiency,
  • Expanding water recovery and reuse practices, and
  • Enhancing the use of data and technology in water management

are among the key policy areas of the Plan.


5-Point Summary of the Plan

1. A 10-year national roadmap

The Plan sets out the strategic framework defining Türkiye’s water management policies for the 2026–2035 period.

2. A multi-stakeholder preparation process

The Plan was developed with input from public institutions, academia, local authorities, and civil society organizations.

3. 8 objectives – 31 strategies – 141 actions

Actions are structured across short-term (2025–2028), medium-term (2028–2031), and long-term (2031–2035) periods.
