The Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change has determined the ‘Procedures and Principles for the Implementation of the Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (KKDİK)’. The chemical industry, which is one of the driving sectors of the national economy and supplies raw materials and intermediate products to many sub-sectors and areas of industry, will see an acceleration in the registration process for chemicals. This will ensure the protection of the environment and human health, as well as enabling Türkiye to manage chemicals in a safe and sustainable manner in line with EU regulations.
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change is conducting studies on the effective management of chemicals in order to prevent environmental pollution caused by chemicals at source. These studies are being shaped in line with the European Union, using a method specific to our country. Chemical registrations are made in the Chemical Registration System within the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change. These registrations include data necessary for safe use, such as the physical and chemical properties of the substance, usage information, exposure information, and toxicological and ecotoxicological information. In this context, the ‘Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals’ (KKDİK) published on 23 June 2017 reorganised the chemical registration process necessary for determining and managing all risks throughout the process from the production to the disposal of chemicals manufactured/imported in Turkey. The Ministry's General Directorate of Environmental Management has established the procedures and principles for the implementation of the KKDİK Regulation in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
The KKDIK Procedures and Principles have been published on the Chemicals Help Desk website of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change of the Republic of Turkey. You can view the relevant content here.
