For the first time, the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) will participate in ACHEMA 2024, held from 10 – 14 June in Frankfurt, Germany. This partnership with ACHEMA, the leading trade show for the global process industry, comes at a pivotal time for the chemical industry.

Cefic Executive Director for Innovation, Daniel Witthaut explains:

“With the ambitious goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050, the chemical industry is committed to changing how and what we produce in less than 30 years while remaining globally competitive. This double twin transition – going circular, digital, climate-neutral, and shifting to safe and sustainable chemicals – demands innovation through collaboration between industries, policymakers, academia, and society. Innovation is a solution provider in this transformative journey and our call is clear: Let’s boost Europe’s journey as an innovation hub. ACHEMA 2024 offers an excellent platform for exchanges, focusing on the key challenges facing the industry and their solutions.”

To steer these conversations, Cefic is hosting a booth and organising 13 sessions across four innovation stages: Process, Green, Digital, and Hydrogen on:

-Hydrogen Economy: Scaling up the EU’s hydrogen economy

-Sustainable Carbon Cycles: Reducing carbon footprints through efficient carbon management

-Chemical Recycling: Exploring technologies for chemical recycling

-Safe and Sustainable-by-Design: Integrating safety and sustainability from the start of the innovation process

-Digitalisation: Leveraging AI, quantum computing, and data sharing

-Innovation in Green and Digital Transitions: Discussing the role of innovation towards climate neutrality

-Brussels Ecosystem Insights: Examining its impact on the chemical industry

-EU Funding Guidance: Guidance to navigate the EU funding landscape

-Biotechnology: Second edition of “Industrial Biotechnology Day”, with two sessions exploring how to advance the European bioeconomy sector. Guest speakers will illustrate the uses and applications of biotechnologies in different sectors of the chemical industry, and will debate how industrial biotechnologies can achieve Europe’s environmental ambitions . This is organised by Cefic sector groups (BioChem Europe, EFCG, EFG) alongside SICOS and EuropaBio.

The 13 sessions will feature industry experts, academics and policymakers from the European Commission.

Meet us at Cefic’s booth in Hall 6.0, Stand D19 where we will highlight the organisation’s initiatives to address industry challenges and lead the green and digital transition. Attendees can learn about the Antwerp Declaration for a European Industrial Deal, the Transition Pathway for the Chemical Industry, and Cefic’s role as a forum for the chemical industry.
