Amendment to Workplace Hazard Classes Relating to Occupational Health and Safety (1 April 2026)

The regulation Amending the Workplace Hazard Classes for Occupational Health and Safety, published in the Official Gazette No. 33211 dated 1 April 2026, has entered into force.

The ‘Communication on Amendments to Workplace Hazard Classes Regarding Occupational Health and Safety’, published in the Official Gazette No. 33211 dated 1 April 2026, has come into force. This Communication introduces updates to the hazard classes under which workplaces are classified according to their areas of activity.


1. Scope of the Amendment

Under the new regulations:

  • The hazard classes corresponding to certain NACE codes have been redefined
  • The risk levels of certain activities included in the current classification have been updated
  • Revisions have been made to ensure consistency of application across the list


2. Potential Impacts on the Chemical Sector

With regard to activities in the chemical sector:

  • There may be an increase or change in the hazard class for certain sub-activities
  • Consequently:
  • The requirements for occupational safety and health specialist categories (A/B/C) may change
  • The service periods for workplace doctors and occupational safety and health services may be updated
  • Training, documentation and risk assessment processes may be affected


3. Recommended Actions for Our Members

We recommend that our members review the following points:

  • The accuracy of the NACE codes corresponding to their business activities
  • Whether there has been a change in hazard class under the current Regulation
  • The need for revisions to OHS service obligations
  • Updating risk assessments and training plans
