Starting January 2025, Cefic will hold the secretariat of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) for a two-year term, becoming the focal point of its efforts to advance the sound management of chemicals worldwide.
“Chemistry is the mother of all industries, and as President of ICCA, I look forward to working closer than ever with our global partners to ensure that our industry continues to deliver innovative solutions, to foster competitiveness and contribute to a sustainable future.”
-Dr. Ilham Kadri, President of ICCA/Cefic and CEO of Syensqo
Under Ms. Kadri’s leadership, ICCA will continue leading key global initiatives, including advancing sustainability frameworks like Responsible Care and continuing its rollout of capacity-building efforts in developing countries. In the next two years, ICCA will also play a critical role in international negotiations, such as contributing to the ongoing discussions around the International Legally Binding Instrument on Plastic Pollution, shaping the Global Framework for Chemicals, and advancing climate policy discussions.
Collaboration will be at the forefront of ICCA’s agenda under Cefic’s chairmanship; from fostering aligned views, sharing insights and ensuring seamless coordination between the different regions. These coordinated efforts aim to secure a future where the chemical industry thrives as a solution-provider for societal and environmental challenges.
