Developments Regarding the Simplification of EU Chemical Legislation

The information letter sent by the Turkish Ministry of Trade, Directorate General for International Agreements and European Union, under the title ‘Developments Regarding the Simplification of EU Chemical Legislation’ has been forwarded to our Association via the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).

The communication titled ‘Developments Regarding the Simplification of EU Chemical Legislation’ was communicated by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, Directorate General for International Agreements and the European Union, and forwarded to our Association via the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).


The aforementioned communication contains information on the following:

  • A letter sent to the European Commission by members of the European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament, drawing attention to the loss of capacity, high energy costs, carbon costs and increasing import pressure experienced by the European chemical industry.
  • The draft Regulation on the simplification of chemicals legislation and the recommendations contained in the related report, discussed in the European Parliament's Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) on 29 January 2026.


Recent developments in the EU chemicals sector, particularly regarding energy costs, carbon regulations, exemption processes for CMR substances, labelling obligations, and transition periods, contain issues that our sector should closely monitor.
