Dear Members;
The self-assessment tool offered by the European Commission supports CBAM compliance until December 31, 2025. The tool can be accessed from this link. In addition, in the statements made by the Commission, it was informed that the tool is kept up to date but cannot be guaranteed to fully reflect the official legislation and users are reminded that users should consult the Official Journal of the European Union for legally binding details.
It was announced by the European Commission that a Self Assessment Tool for companies importing into the EU on September 23, 2024 has been developed, an example of which is available at the link below. The tool allows importers to quickly find out whether their imported goods are subject to the CBAM during the transition period, understand the specific CBAM reporting requirements and see where they can find more information.
According to Commission sources, during the transition period until December 31, 2025, the tool will be kept up to date in order to facilitate the implementation of the CBAM. In this context, it is also aimed to ensure that the Assessment Tool is provided in a timely and accurate manner and that any errors are corrected during the transition period.
However, it is emphasized that the information provided in the system is not legally binding and it is understood that it is for informational purposes to ensure that suppliers are prepared for the CBAM.
