Greenhouse Gas Emission Statistics have been announced-1990-2022 (June 5, 2024)


TURKSTAT: Turkey's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Decreased by 2.4 Percent in 2022


Summary Information: 


Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced greenhouse gas emission data for 2022. In this period, energy-based emissions had the largest share in total emissions in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent with 71.8%, followed by agriculture with 12.8%, industrial processes and product use with 12.5%, and waste sector with 2.9%. While total greenhouse gas emissions per capita was 4.1 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 1990, it was calculated as 6.8 tons in 2021 and 6.6 tons in 2022. Thus, total greenhouse gas emissions in 2022 decreased by 2.4% compared to the previous year to 558.3 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.
