Dear Members,
The attached letter from the Ministry of Trade, Directorate General for International Agreements and the European Union, addressed to the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), has been forwarded to our association via TOBB. The attached letter mentions that two separate pieces of secondary legislation have been adopted by the European Commission on 9 February 2026 under the Eco-Design Regulation for Sustainable Products (ESPR) concerning consumer products placed on the EU market but not sold.
Furthermore, the letter, which is detailed in the attachment, states that the regulations in question encourage companies to strengthen their stock management, improve their return processes, and evaluate alternatives such as resale, remanufacturing, donation, or reuse, rather than directly destroying stocks. Furthermore, it is stated that the disposal ban and related exceptions will apply to large-scale businesses placing the relevant products on the EU market from 19 July 2026, and will also cover medium-sized businesses by 2030.
